Bonanza Presents:
'Kosmic Juke-Joint'...

'Psychedelectronica from outer (and inner) Space!'

@ The Lock Tavern

Tuesday 1st February 2011

Live Acts:

Nu2tral & Stamina Li

+ A Secret Psychedelic guest act?

Imagine a Juke-Joint deep in space and you'll be not quite so close to the premise of Bonanza's night The Kosmic Juke-Joint...

So expect all manner of bands, Djs, artists, curators, dancers, writers, poets and performers tracing the roots and subsequent influence of the Blues into Psychedelia and the history of the droning, analogue synth, right through to glitchy, computer-based electronica and sampleadelia... and a lot more from ten decades of astounding sounds!

If pre-war, down-home, Mississippi Blues next to great slabs of monolithic Krautrock or underground rock-tronica doesn't seem wrong to you plus the latest, cutting-edge acts live on stage then you'll love it...

Live Acts:

Nu2tral & Stamina Li:
Universal Dub Reggae and mashed-up cosmic hip-hop with a new message of hope, peace and respect resonating from the streets of Hackney.
Both are Poets,Toasters and story-tellers who create a fresh and diverse blend of Reggae ranging from space-out dub to upbeat Ragga.

Imagine the Wu Tang Klan being laid down by The Mad Professor and King Tubby with the cosmic inspiration of Lee Scratch Perry... also reminiscient in places of Nick Manasseh & Scruff's ground-breaking Sound Iration album...
Irie!

Bonanza Presents: 'COUNTRIER THAN THOU'

Bonanza Presents:
'COUNTRIER THAN THOU'...
(Country Americana Blues)

@ The Lock Tavern

Thursday 27th January 2011

Live acts:

Andy Twyman:
Bonanza has discovered yet another One Man-Band and boy what a One-Man-Bijou-Boogie-unit he really is with 'more mojo than a chicken on cocaine' apparently!

Twyman is a rockin' powerhouse with gutsy vocals and twanging guitar which is bound to get the house pumping and people up and dancing. He also switches to a stripped down acoustic set and shows he has a sensitive side with an intimate and provocative take on the Blues.

Reminiscient of Classic, British Blues and R&B in the vein of early Yardbirds or the Punky Freakbeat of 60's Primitives even a whiff of Early Rolling Stones and Skiffle era Beatles but all in the One Man Band format, genius!
www.myspace.com/andytwyman
www.facebook.com/pages/Andy-Twyman-Fan-Page/125481074168095

+ Nigel Burch and his Flea Pit-LESS Orchestra:
Playing tonight in his solo 'Bladdered Balladeer' capacity the 'Big Man With A Little Instrument' and The Troubadour Of Urban Angst will perform and recount incredible Avant-Skiffle-Punk tales of abjection and rejection made palatable by wistful tunes and comic innuendo. Hackney's very own genius in residence.

Kosmic Juke-Joint

Bonanza Presents:
'Kosmic Juke-Joint'...

Psychedelectronica from outer (and inner) Space!

@ The Lock Tavern

Tuesday 18th January 2010

Live Acts:

Standard Planets:

+ Lasers From Atlantis:

Imagine a Juke-Joint deep in space and you'll be not quite so close to the premise of Bonanza's night The Kosmic Juke-Joint...

So expect all manner of bands, Djs, artists, curators, dancers, writers, poets and performers tracing the roots and subsequent influence of the Blues into Psychedelia and the history of the droning, analogue synth, right through to glitchy, computer-based electronica and sampladelia... and a lot more from ten decades of astounding sounds!

If pre-war, down-home, Mississippi Blues next to great slabs of monolithic Krautrock or underground rock-tronica doesn't seem wrong to you plus the latest, cutting-edge acts live on stage then you'll love it...

'Psychedelectronica from inner and outer space'.

Live Acts:

Standard Planets:
Standard Planets create epic symphonies that effortlessly combine elements of monolithic Drone, caustic machine Funk, Late '60's Psych, Carpathian Hillbilly, Fourth world soundscapes, Bipolar sludge and Tectonic, Teutonic Krautrock.

These guys have paid their dues having played alongside Action Beat (Southern), Anne Shenton (Add N To X), Comanechi, John Callaghan (Warp), Die Die Die, Daedalus, Tim Exile, Max Tundra, Black Devil Disco Club, Joakim, Factory Floor, and Wet Dog. The Planets multi-instrumental live show sees the band sail a spatial voyage of refracted linearity focused through inter-dimensional, universal vibrations of all consuming resonant excess ie it will blow your mind and ya socks off!

They've released a self-produced album "Providers of Utopian Energy" recorded in various cavernous warehouses and basements throughout East London as well as being played by & lt; /strong> Gideon Coe on his 6 music show even though he doesn't normally play unsigned stuff as well as regular airings on Dandelion FM and Resonance FM.

To end 2010 they play Vice Magazine's issue launch at the Old Blue Last and in 2011 they play a big Ninja tune show case in Brighton... Come and see them before they go stellar... If you like stuff like Spacemen 3, Can, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Pretty Things or Wooden Shjips you'll dig this lot.

+ Lasers From Atlantis:
Following an epic support slot and now legendary gig with S.C.U.M and Bo Ningen in Shoreditch plus previous headlining slots at The Rest Is Noise in Brixton Bonanza has booked KJJ a flight with the Lasers From Atlantis who will transport NW1 on a quantum leaping trip to a blissfull Nirvana with oozing waves of transcendental, cosmic, psychedelic tones and tranquilizing melodies juxtaposed with heavy, droning lightning-bolts that have been beamed from the ether for your floating in space pleasure.

Having already notched up a couple of superb singles on Woven Tones Records expect to be hearing a lot more of these guys in 2010
Elsewhere 'The Lasers...' have been described as a 'Fresh Space-Psych/Avant Doom Quartet in need of basements, rooftops and observatories.'

Flip your wigs folks!

Next Show...

Bonanza Presents:

'Down South'... (Country-Blues-Americana)

We are very sad to announce that this will be our final show EVER at The Rest Is Noise so don't miss it.

Thursday 13th January 2011
@ The Rest Is Noise
422 Brixton High Road,
Brixton, SW9.
9-1am... Free Entry

Live acts:

Lewis Floyd-Henry:
Arguably the best One Man Band in London coming on like Jimi Hendrix in a turbo-charged, 30Watt, childs pram jamming with The Wu Tang Klan and bringing down the system in one foul swoop... Showcasing his up-coming debut album on 'Adjust' chock full of a Rockin', distorted, Punk-Blues mash up with Dirty Country, Hip Hop and the rest.

I don't need to say anymore; just come and see him play cos he'll blow your mind, your socks off and anything else you need blowing (metaphorically speaking of course).

+ Craig Shaw & Band:
Blues-Gospel hollering from Excellos/Bob Shack Stompers mainman and current collaborator with 60's legend Chris Farlowe. Once described as The Beatles of Swamp-Rock in the tradition of Slim Harpo, Lazy Lester and Lightnin' Slim tonight he'll be knocking out some evil Delta slide guitar and harmonica driven Gospel tuneage for your delectation.
