The Gaslight Club TONIGHT and beyond

Howdy Folks,
just a quick note to let you know about 'The Gaslight Club' tonight at Filthy MacNasty's… This will be our last promotion til Countrier Than Thou at the end of August as we’re taking a little summer break and our ResonanceFM radio show will also be off the air til September…

However you can catch up on past Bonanza & Son radio shows on our Mixcloud page (www.mixcloud.com/bonanza-son) and if you haven’t heard the recent show where we interviewed Denny Tedesco Director of the ace documentary 'The Wrecking Crew’ then please have a listen as it’s a corker of a show and most illuminating for any self respecting music geek!

FOLK, AMERICANA, ROOTS & UNDERGROUND MUSIC

MUSIC•ART•LITERATURE•FILM•

Named after, and taking it’s inspiration from, the famous Greenwich Village Café, The Gaslight Club which was a favourite haunt of the young Bob Dylan and where he premiered early songs such as ‘Masters Of War’.

Other esteemed artists to have performed there include Son House, Allen Ginsberg, Jimi Hendrix, Bill Cosby, David Bomberg, Bonnie Raitt & Bruce Springsteen to name just a handful.

Expect all manner of
acoustic acts • film screenings • spoken word • performance art • book and poetry readings • private views and one-night-only pop-up art exhibitions • dance • special guest djs • comedy • political satire • puppet shows • etc…
Live acoustic set from

Playing Live

Dana Immanuel:
I had a discussion with Dana recently just before a Jim White gig in Wetherspoons. 'We' were in Wetherspoons, not the Jim White gig I should hasten to add... That was at the more salubrious Union Chapel.

Anyhow, Dana turned to me and asked 'how would you describe my music'. ‘Well', I said, 'Gothic-Country comes to mind but in the true sense of Gothic so more Edgar Allen Poe than Marilyn Manson'… I also said that a Journalist friend of mine described it as 'Country-Noir'.

I think that whole conversation says more about what you can expect from tonights show than the paragraph of pretentious, music jouranalist blurb I initially intended to write.

So there you have it then, a female Jim White, pissed in Wetherspoons with a Banjo and an attitude, praying at the alter of primal Rock ’N’ Roll in its infancy. Sounds good dunnit?

Emma Scarr:
Tonight Emma Scarr will play a selection of songs both in the guise of her solo, Folk-Americana with guitar and vocals and possibly slide-guitar resonator and also as Black/Scarr her more upbeat, Country duet with fiddle. Both incarnations are a delight to hear and see live and you won’t be disappointed. Emma has an uncanny knack of taking traditional, American Roots music and seamlessly imbuing it with a Britishness and a truly down-home, London feel.

+ Film Screenings:
All manner of weird and wonderful rock ’n’ Roll celluloid artefacts will be screened as a backdrop, all night long for your visual pleasure and seeing as we were talking about Jim White we’ll screen his film ’Searching For The Wrong-Eyed Jesus’.
