‘Tracing the roots and subsequent influence of the pioneers, innovators, outlaws, renegades and mavericks of Country Music and Americana’s past present and future’
Mad Staring Eyes have been very busy recently including rave reviews of their latest album in all the major music mags as well as inclusion on cover mounted cds.
The album, 'Talking to the Operator' on Commercial Arts/Proper Music, has been taken by the band on a heavy, UK touring schedule as well as taking in all the top festivals including the upcoming Bestival.
The band hail from North London and have been playing together since they were 15 years old. If you are not familiar with the band imagine a kind of Avant-Country family band akin to The Carter Family but with London accents and a contemporary edge.
After releasing their self-titled, debut album they were invited to play the John Peel stage at Glastonbury and they have since played all over the UK as well as in the US of A, Canada, Germany and even Russia! They have played acclaimed international festivals such asSouth By South West in Austin, Texas and North By North East in Toronto.
Their latest album was recorded live onto tape using only vintage equipment and draws on influences from The Band to Ryan Adams, The Byrds to Bruce Springsteen to Van Morrison.
Their wistfull tunes will tug at your heartstrings and the whirling upbeat numbers will lift your boot-heels onto the dancefloor in your living-room. The next day you’ll be humming their tunes in the shower as you realise you’re now a fully, paid-up member of their fan-club!
'Music that makes you want to cry, laugh, dance and sing...all at once’...

Our club night ‘Countrier Than Thou’ has successfully moved into its fifth year at the famous Lock Tavern in Camden.
Way back in the days when Country was still a dirty word round these parts and Americana was thought by some to be simply a typo’ error, not only having consistently sourced excellence in traditional Country, Bonanza has also discovered the most forward thinking Avant-Country, Punk-Blues, Americana and Roots with zero irony just good, old, quality music and very good times.
