Bonanza & Son Week ahead...

Howdy Folks,
We hope this update finds you very well.

The Bonanza & Son schedule shows no signs of letting up so we’ll just dive straight in and tell you what we’ve got going on this week through to the weekend…

Oh but just to remind you if you didn’t catch our exclusive interview and live session last week with ex Drive By Truckers mainman Jason Isbell and his lovely, lady wife Amanda Shires you can listen at you leisure on our mixcloud page; just click the link here or paste into your browser…

Bonanza & Son On ResonanceFM: Jason Isbell & Amanda Shires live session 20th November 2013 by Bonanza & Son on Mixcloud

•This week’s ResonanceFM radio show on Wednesday features a live session from Kris Kristofferson favourites James Low and Drew Landry all the way from Lafayette Louisianna via Portland Oregon. Plus we have an interview with legendary, London Rock ’n’ Rollers The Godfathers on the run up to their only London date this year on Wednesday evening at The Camden Underworld.

•On Wednesday evening Bonanza & Son will be guest DJ's at the aforementioned Godfathers show at Camden Underworld. Support comes from the The Witchdoktors and doors are at 7pm

• Finally on Friday Bonanza & Son will be guest DJ’s at a brand new night called ‘Release The Lions' organised by The Elasticated Waste Band who will be playing live. It all takes place Upstairs at The Lion on Stoke Newington Church Street, N16 from 8pm til late.

We reckon come Sunday we’ll need a lie in but we’ll do it whilst snoozing to the repeat of our radio show at 11am. If you can’t catch either show as they go out on air you can listen later on www.mixcloud.com/bonanza-son

We really hope to see you at one of these events.

Peace and love to all.
Bonanza & Son.

Live acts:
James Low:
Whiskey Farmer and good ol’ boy James Low
is the Portland, Oregon based songwriter behind the critically acclaimed album Whiskey Farmer (4 stars in Q, Maverick, and The Telegraph’s Top 10 Roots Albums of 2012) released by The James Low Western Front last year. His music has been compared to Townes Van Zandt and John Prine whilst James himself is more like a cowboy Elvis Costello. Having grown up in Eastern Oregon ranch country, the cowboy comes naturally. With a career spanning two decades James has remained remarkably under the radar in spite of a first album (Mexiquita) considered a cult classic in Pacific Northwest roots music circles and a barn-burning sophomore effort (Blackheart) that is dearly loved by those in the know. With the success of Whiskey Farmer, James’ music is beginning to reach wider audiences. 2012 saw performances on the Pat Kenny show in Ireland, ResonanceFM, House Of Mercy and the BBC as well as scores of club dates in Europe and the US. Come and see James Low rock the Lock Tavern with his own particular medicine show cabinet of Contemporary Western Swing and Cosmic, Country vibes.

Drew Landry:
Firmly rooted in cane fields of Southwest Louisiana & the Hill Country of South Texas Drew’s roughneck Country Blues has the endorsement of some of the genres best with none other than Kris Kristofferson calling Landry's song 'Last Man Standing', “The best I've heard in 30 years”. Landry's first album 'Keep What's Left’ has similarly been described as 'The Equivalent to Lomax’s field recordings for the 21st Century. A Gulf Coast social activist, Drew partnered with Warner Bros to release ‘The BP Blues' to benefit victims of the oil spill in 2010 and also worked with Dr. John to record an oil spill benefit album. His third and most recent album, 'Sharecropper's Whine’, is a Cajun inspired Americana Masterwork and nestled in the Euro Americana chart for several months in 2012.
