A LIVING LEGEND ON BONANZA & SON ON RESONANCE FM... BUZZ CASON

A LIVING LEGEND ON BONANZA & SON ON RESONANCE FM... BUZZ CASON

Howdy Folks,
Well what can I say this week is THEE single most crazy, bonkers-busy Bonanza & Son week EVER!!!

We'll try to keep it swift and brief cos there really is a lot to tell you.

On TUESDAY 22nd July 2014 we are recording a live session and interview with Otis Gibbs. Regular listeners to our show will be more than familiar with Otis upcoming new LP 'Souvenirs of A Misspent Youth' as we have played a number of tracks in recent weeks and it really is a cracker and the session will be a good 'un for sure. Watch this space for full future broadcast details. In the meantime here's Otis' very own radio show and a very illuminating interview with Scott H Biram...

Here are some of our past shows for you to have a rummage through too...

On WEDNESDAY we have a live session and interview with a true living legend Mr Buzz Cason. The show will air live at 4:30pm (UK time) when Buzz will play songs from his latest LP 'Troubadour Heart' ' plus some blasts from the past.

Buzz has had an incredible career having worked with them all. He was a founding member of The Casuals, Nashville's first rock and roll band. He toured with The Crickets and went on to have huge success as a songwriter including the worldwide smash hit 'Everlasting Love'. You're only as good as your most recent album of course and Buzz' brand new album 'Troubadour Heart', which has just been released on Plowboy Records, is one of our favourite albums of the year thus far and is a real gem of a record mixing Country, Blues, Rock 'n 'Roll and even Punk and New Wave! This is the first time Buzz has been to the UK for over ten years so we are very excited and honoured to have both an exclusive live session and a series of intimate gigs.

Buzz has also written songs for and had songs covered by Elvis Presley, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Jerry Reed, Merle Haggard Haggard, The Judds, The Doobie Brothers, Emmylou Harris, Olivia Newton-John and even The Beatles. Buzz has worked with them all and can even boast backing singer credits with Elvis Presley and Kenny Rogers.
Be sure to tune in to Bonanza & Son on ResonanceFM on Wednesday 23rd July at 4:30PM (UK time). Tune in on 104.4FM in London or www.resonancefm.com

On THURSDAY Bonanza & Son are DJing alongside two amazing London bands The Milky Onions + The Fruitful Earth at The Earl Derby, 155 Kilburn High Rd, NW6. This event has been made 'gig of the week' by 'West Hampstead Life' and we wouldn't argue with that... The Milky Onions with their Post-Modern take on Psych' will delight with plenty of weirdness to boot... Plus the wonderful ‘female vocal-led 70's love vibes' of The Fruitful Earth both complimented by a Bonanza & Son DJ set of Psych, 70's MOR and Hippy Trippy Americana.

Vote for Bonanza & Son on ResonanceFM

Hey Folks,
we don't normally ask people to do things like this but it has been suggested that we make a bid for 'Best Radio Show' at the Mixcloud & IRF Online Radio Awards with Bonanza & Son on ResonanceFM (under the 'Indie/Alternative' section)

So we're asking everyone who has either been on our show or had stuff played that you are involved with or maybe you've just listened and would like to vote for us.

We just voted for Resonance 104.4fm as best station and it took only 30 seconds so maybe you would be so kind as to vote for our little, weekly radio show.

Just click on the Mixcloud link below. Voting is open now but ends soon... Many thanks in anticipation.

Davey James live session
Davey weaves Blues and Americana like a rich tapestry on guitar; intricately paying homage to the past but equally keeping the genres up to date in the same way that Justin Townes Earle or Ryan Adams nod to the greats but keep the music fresh and alive and relevant for young and old alike. Davey's consummate skill on the fretboard belies his tender years as he delivers his word-smithery on time and right to your door like Tom Waits dressed as a postman who's lost his Wells Fargo van at the crossroads in a card game with the Devil...

Davey will be playing live at Bonanza & Son's Countrier Than Thou on Thursday 31st July alongside fellow Londoners Forty Elephant Gang and living legend Buzz Cason who is live on the show next week.

Neil Young and Crazyhorse

A truly amazing gig from Neil Young and Crazyhorse tonight at Hyde Park London 12th July 2014.

Here's the track list. A nice varied mixture of songs from across Neil's oeuvre with something for everyone.

I loved the way they would lock into a trance-inducing groove especially the 15 minute extended 'Love And Only Love' and a jaw-dropping rendition of 'Down By The River'.

We were also treated to a brand new song and the rarely heard 'Separate Ways' from the scrapped early 70's 'Homegrown' LP.

•Goin' Home (AYP)
•Days That Used to Be (RG)

Live acts:
The Fruitful Earth:
A Bonanza & Son debut for one of our favourite bands on the London scene at the moment. A glorious keyboard driven summer sound coming on like a musical Tapestry of Carole King where Rumours abound that Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks is about to join the party with a little dash of Bobbie Gentry and Dusty in Memphis to get you up on the danceflor. The sweetest and lightest feelings of love and good times are imminent.

Harry Mundy:
Harry Mundy’s reputation precedes him what with recording his debut album with Ryan Adams band The Cardinals in Nashville no less and then promptly receiving a five star review in Maverick where they described it as a 'steel guitar dominated Country sound… his own distinctive take with well-written songs that explore the age-old Country subjects of heartbreak, drink, unrequited love and loneliness. Pathos with his impassioned voice and some Bluesy harmonica, most impressive.’
Tonight we have a rare and intimate solo performance from one of London’s most promising practitioners of Americana music.
